Information you provide
MapleTrail Software may receive information you choose to provide directly, such as when you contact support or send feedback by email.
App content
Moments Later is designed as a personal product for saving moments, memories, and reflections. Moments Away is designed for saving travel places, visits, notes, photos, videos, and related collection details. Information you create in either app is used to provide the app experience.
Moments, journal entries, saved places, visits, attached media, and related app content are stored privately for your use. If you use iCloud sync, that content syncs through your personal private iCloud/CloudKit account across your Apple devices.
Permissions and device access
Moments Later and Moments Away request access only when you choose to use a feature that depends on it.
This can include camera access for capturing photos or video, microphone and speech recognition access for voice capture and transcription, location access for adding place context, notification access for reminders, and optional access to Calendar, Apple Health, Apple Music, and Journaling Suggestions for richer journal context.
Moments Away uses location and map-related access for place search, nearby places, saved place context, and map display. Photo and video access is used only when you attach media to a saved place or visit.
If you connect Strava, Moments Later uses read-only access to retrieve activity context for the day you are journaling. It does not post to Strava or use Strava as a social feed.
Analytics
Moments Later can send anonymous feature-usage analytics only if you enable that option in Settings. These analytics are limited to product usage information, such as opened screens and capture types, and do not include your moment text, transcripts, photos, videos, locations, people, or tags.
Website data
The MapleTrail Software website does not use a public account system. Basic technical information may be collected by hosting providers or standard server logs to operate, secure, and improve the site.
Third-party services
Depending on the features you choose to use, Moments Later may rely on Apple services such as iCloud/CloudKit, Calendar, Apple Health, Apple Music, notifications, or speech recognition. If you enable anonymous analytics, analytics events are processed by PostHog. If you choose to connect Strava, Strava data is used only for the journal-context feature you request.
Moments Away may rely on Apple services for maps, location, photo and video selection, backups, exports, and optional iCloud sync if you enable it.
Sharing
MapleTrail Software does not sell your personal information. Information may be shared only when needed to operate the service, comply with legal obligations, or protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and MapleTrail Software.
Data retention
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide support, operate the app or website, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
Your choices
You can contact MapleTrail Software to ask privacy-related questions or request help with your information.
You can also manage app permissions through your device settings, turn notifications on or off, disconnect optional integrations, and disable anonymous analytics at any time.
