This policy explains how Acadie handles information in the app and in the optional Acadie Account.
Using Acadie without an account
Acadie remains fully usable without signing in. Saved roots, notes, settings, story progress, and downloaded video files stay on your device unless you choose to enable account backup. Video files are not uploaded through Acadie Account backup.
Information used for an Acadie Account
If you create or use an account, Firebase Authentication assigns an account identifier. Depending on the sign-in method you choose, Firebase and Acadie may receive your email address, display name, and an Apple, Google, or email-provider identifier. Apple may provide a private relay email address. Acadie does not receive or store your Apple or Google password, and passwords entered for email authentication are handled by Firebase Authentication.
Information you choose to back up
After you review and confirm the backup preview, Acadie may store your saved roots, notes, settings, app-navigation choices, story progress, deletion records needed for safe synchronization, and basic synced-device records in Cloud Firestore under your Firebase account identifier. A synced-device record contains an app-generated device identifier, platform, and last backup time; it is not a list of all open authentication sessions.
Recovery snapshots may be retained for up to 30 days to protect against an accidental replacement or merge. The app shows a preview before the first merge and does not replace local data with an empty cloud account automatically.
Community contributions
If you create a Community profile, your chosen display name, unique username, optional broad location or Acadian connection, optional avatar image, and verified supporter status are public. Your email address and sign-in provider are not shown on the public profile. Posts, comments, replies, and reactions are public and are associated with your public profile while the account is active.
Acadie privately stores reports you submit, members you block, your acceptance of the current Community rules, rate-limit records, account safety status, and moderation records needed to review reports and protect the service. These records are available only as needed to you, authorized moderators, or service administrators.
After account deletion, public posts and comments may remain available so the conversation stays intact. During deletion processing, Acadie removes the account name, profile, avatar, supporter identity, and other direct links to your account from those public contributions. They remain as anonymized community content, not as personally identified contributions. Private reports, moderation records, blocks, usernames, account status, and rate-limit records are removed.
Notifications
If you enable Community notifications, Acadie stores a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token, an app-generated installation session identifier, your platform, language choice, and update time. These values are used only to deliver the notifications you requested. Turning notifications off removes or disables the stored delivery record.
Subscriptions and purchase verification
If you use Acadie+, Apple or Google handles your payment information. Acadie sends the store’s signed purchase proof, together with Firebase account and app-verification tokens when available, to Acadie’s Firebase service to confirm entitlement and prevent one purchase from being claimed by multiple accounts. Acadie stores the verified store, product, purchase reference, entitlement status, expiry information, and the Acadie Account identifier linked to that entitlement. MapleTrail Software does not receive your full payment-card details.
Location, media, and permissions
If you grant location access, your current location is used on the device to help filter nearby discoveries. Acadie does not continuously track or store precise location in your account backup. Downloaded story videos remain local to the device.
Analytics and technical information
Acadie uses Firebase Analytics to understand product interactions such as app launches, opened features, language mode, and support actions. Analytics events are not intended to contain your roots, note text, search text, precise location, account identifier, email address, or downloaded media.
Service providers
Google Firebase provides authentication, account backup, recovery snapshots, Community data, push delivery, purchase-verification functions, app verification, and analytics. Apple and Google provide their respective sign-in, storefront, purchase-verification, and notification services when you use them. Their handling of information is also governed by their own privacy terms.
Sharing and sale
MapleTrail Software does not sell your personal information. Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate the selected features, when required by law, or to protect users and the service.
Retention and deletion
Account data remains until you delete the account or request deletion, subject to limited retention required for security, legal obligations, or resolving a request. In-app account deletion removes the Firebase Authentication account and Acadie cloud records, including recovery snapshots; public Community contributions are anonymized as described above. Local data remains on your device unless you remove it separately.

Your choices
- Use the full app without an account.
- Choose Apple, Google, or email authentication.
- Review the local/cloud preview before enabling synchronization.
- Export your local personal data from Acadie Account.
- Sign out without deleting local data or changing a store subscription.
- Delete your account and cloud data in the app or request deletion online.
