Privacy Policy for If Needed

This Privacy Policy describes how MapleTrail Software handles information related to If Needed, a private handoff planning app.

Effective date: April 30, 2026

Information you provide

If Needed lets you enter practical planning information, such as bills, money details, insurance information, digital-life notes, household details, wishes, trusted contacts, document locations, access notes, and other handoff notes you choose to add.

Local-first storage

If Needed is designed to store your plan on your device. MapleTrail Software does not operate an account system or server that reads your If Needed plan content.

Optional private iCloud sync

If you turn on private iCloud sync, your If Needed plan syncs through your personal Apple iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit service. This is intended to keep your plan available across your own Apple devices. MapleTrail Software does not provide a separate cloud account for If Needed.

You can manage iCloud and app data through your Apple device settings and iCloud settings.

App lock and device authentication

If Needed can use device authentication, such as Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, to help protect access to the app. Biometric authentication is handled by Apple on your device. MapleTrail Software does not receive your Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode information.

Purchases

If Needed offers an optional one-time Lifetime Unlock. Purchases, refunds, and restore purchases are handled by Apple's App Store and StoreKit. MapleTrail Software receives purchase status information needed to unlock premium features in the app.

PDF export and sharing

If Needed can create a handoff PDF from the information in your plan. You choose when to create, save, print, or share that PDF. Be careful when sharing exported PDFs because they may contain sensitive information you entered.

Support email

If you contact MapleTrail Software for support, MapleTrail Software receives the information you choose to include in your email, such as your email address, device details, screenshots, or a description of the issue.

No ads or tracking

If Needed does not show third-party ads and does not sell your personal information. If Needed does not use third-party advertising tracking.

Website data

The MapleTrail Software website does not use a public account system. Basic technical information may be collected by hosting providers or standard server logs to operate, secure, and improve the site.

Sharing

MapleTrail Software does not sell your personal information. Information may be shared only when needed to provide support, operate the app or website, comply with legal obligations, or protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users and MapleTrail Software.

Data retention

Information you store in If Needed remains on your device, or in your private iCloud account if you enable private iCloud sync, until you edit or delete it. Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably necessary to provide support, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Your choices

You can manage app permissions through your device settings, turn private iCloud sync on or off in the app, manage iCloud data through your Apple settings, and delete app data from your device.
