Acadie Terms of Use

Use Acadie with care for the people and stories it brings together.

These terms apply to the Acadie app, Acadie Community, and Acadie+. By using Acadie, and by accepting the Community guidelines before participating, you agree to these terms.

Effective date: September 22, 2026

Using Acadie

You may browse and use Acadie without an account. Some features, including account backup and Community participation, require an Acadie Account. Keep your sign-in information secure and give accurate information when creating an account or public profile.

Acadie presents cultural, historical, travel, and family-research material for general information. Sources can disagree and details can change. Check primary or official sources before relying on the app for an important decision.

Community participation

You must be at least 13 years old to post, reply, or react in Community. Before participating, you must review and accept the current Community guidelines and these terms.

When you participate, you agree to:

  • stay respectful and on topic;
  • avoid harassment, bullying, threats, hate, spam, scams, impersonation, and illegal content;
  • avoid sexual or exploitative content, especially content involving minors;
  • avoid sharing another person’s private or sensitive information;
  • present family-history discussions as personal research rather than established fact when the evidence is uncertain; and
  • post only text and images that you created or have permission to use.

Do not violate copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights. You can report content or a member and block a member using the tools in the app.

Moderation

MapleTrail Software may review reports, remove or limit content, restrict participation, suspend an account, or preserve information needed to investigate abuse, protect people, or comply with law. Moderation decisions consider context and may be changed after further review. Community access may be limited temporarily while a safety issue is investigated.

Your contributions

You keep ownership of content you submit. You give MapleTrail Software a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, display, format, and moderate that content only as needed to operate and protect Acadie Community.

You can delete contributions where the app provides that option. If you delete your account, public posts and comments may remain so conversations stay understandable, but Acadie removes the profile, avatar, supporter identity, and other direct account links as described in the Privacy Policy. The licence continues only for content that remains for that purpose.

Acadie content

Unless a credit or source says otherwise, the app design, writing, illustrations, audio, video, and software belong to MapleTrail Software or are used with permission. You may use Acadie for personal, non-commercial purposes. Do not reproduce or redistribute Acadie content unless the app, the credited source, or MapleTrail Software gives permission.

Acadie+ subscriptions

Acadie+ is optional. The price and billing period appear before purchase. Payment is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it through the same store before renewal. The store handles billing, cancellation, and refund requests. Access may end when a subscription expires, is refunded, or is revoked.

Platform terms also apply where relevant, including Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement and the Google Play Terms of Service.

Availability and responsibility

We work to keep Acadie available and accurate, but features, remote content, and third-party services can change or be unavailable. To the extent allowed by law, MapleTrail Software is not responsible for indirect losses arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms removes consumer rights that cannot legally be waived.

Copyright and other concerns

To report content that you believe infringes copyright or another right, email support@mapletrailsoftware.com. Identify the work or right, the content and its location in Acadie, your contact information, and why you believe the use is unauthorized. Do not include passwords or security codes.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as Acadie changes. A new Community policy version may require participants to accept the updated terms before posting again. The effective date will appear here.
